07 JULY 2017 Here is the cheat collection update for the latest MAME (0.187). Note: The XML/JSON Cheat Collection archives are double packed. Inside the downloaded zip archive you will find a large cheat.7z. It's this cheat.7z that should be placed in the same directory as your MAME execute-able.

Since MAME 0.186 crazyc has made some more really useful changes to the LUA cheat plugin (accessed via the Plugin Options Cheat on the MAME TAB menu): 1. You can now once again assign cheats to activation keys and it's actually a lot easier than it used to be, you can do it via the 'Set Hotkeys' option in the menu or directly by editing the gamenamehotkeys.json file in the cheat directory. Download USRCHEAT.DAT for R4, R4I AND R43DS v1.41 (9.55MB) for NDS. The file 'USRCHEAT.DAT' can be downloaded instantly from our NDS Cheat Files Cheat Files category.

Note, with this release the MAME cheat file no longer just contains cheats for arcade games it also contains cheats for the softwarelist based home computer/console systems formerly solely part of MESS. There is at least a 'placeholder' cheat file for every individual softwarelist entry, though there are actual varying numbers of cheats for games in the advision, arcadia, coleco, gamegear, gamepock, jaguar, lynx, megadriv, megatech, neogeo, nes, nesade, pce, pv1000, pv2000, samcoupeflop, sgx, stv, sv8000, tg16 & vii software lists.

There are long-standing issues with slot ROM cheats in the former solely MESS systems so only RAM cheats will currently work in those systems - so if any cheat does not operate as described it is likely for that reason; so please do not send/post bug reports for ANY softwarelist game. If you are STILL having issues getting cheats to work with MAMEUI after you've placed cheat.zip in the same directory as the execute-able (see above pics) then click for some pictorial assistance. 31 MARCH 2009 Decided it was time to give the site a little spring clean as it's 10 years to the day since the last redesign. Lean, clean and quick are the orders of the day - not sure if I like it though. As many of you are aware the old cheat engine was hacked to death during the 0.125 update cycle, it was so bad that the whole cheat engine was ripped out during the 0.126 update cycle.

Nds Cheat Codes

A completely new and more resilient cheat engine was written by Aaron Giles during the 0.127 update cycle. This new cheat engine works in a completely different way than the old cheat engine, though the casual cheater should notice few differences as the differences are behind the scenes. The cheat.dat is now officially dead, replaced by 7000+ xml cheat files (though they can be kept in a single zip). The cheat format as expected is unrecognisable from before, but it is a lot more powerful.

Unfortunately, so far there is no cheat finding functionality in the new cheat engine.hopefully this will get addressed soon. Right there are two releases today. First of all, to close off cheat.dat once and for all I include the LAST EVER cheat.dat file. This cheat file is meant for use with a MAME 0.126 that's been compiled with a working cheat engine rather than the one contained with the 0.125 updates. I've included a link to the last known good cheat.c for MAME 0.126 so if you are capable of compiling your own - drop that into the right place and type make. Before anybody asks, no it's NOT possible to compile the old cheat.c into newer MAMEs as since 0.126u1 there have been a series of changes to the memory/cpu system that makes it all but impossible.

Secondly, I've converted the above 0.126 cheat.dat file into the 7000+ xml files of the new format. This cheat collection is for use with 0.130u2 or later. See the MAME Cheat Files section for a link for this version which has now been superceded.

Is there any other way I can get the latest cheat.dat/usrcheat.dat at doesn't result in installing some shady software that may do nasty things to my PC or brick my DSi?

I was also looking for the latest usercheat.dat and came across this thread. However I am unsure which is the latest version? I found this usercheat.dat on the akaio forums posted by FawkYew:- This has a last modfied date/time of at 00:12 However the one linked in this thread by Technicmaster0:- Has the same modified date, but a later time stamp - 15:06 Both files have different checksums, so I wondered which one is actually the latest/most up to date?
